Yall I am so excited about this topic. I hope today as hot as it is where I am that your chair is comfy and your tea is ice cold.
I find myself today in the hayfield. Sometimes I have a ton of stuff to do and I am usually running around like a chicken with my head cut off.. But today I find myself with my keyboard and inspiration as I look around at all of the things that surround me.
In the background I can hear the sound of the tractor that my husband is using to bale hay, I occasionally hear a Hoot Owl, hooting. I hear crickets and birds chirping. The air is still and the sun is starting to set. The peacefulness of this day is calming and allows you time to reflect on it.
Not only do I hear these things, I see so much as well. The mountains in the distance that are full of green trees just waiting on the next season to change colors. I see the hayfield in which was just cut and baled that supplies food to the animals. I see dandelions (remember how good they are??), I see clover and ivy, locust trees and how red my arms are from being in the sun and I am sure if I looked in the mirror or wiped my neck with something wet, it would turn colors. I watch some yellow finches fly around a little while ago, and Ive seen deer every where.
What amazes me about this as I reflect on it is how blessed we are to enjoy the nature that God has given us. The detail he puts into each clover leaf, blade of grass, hair on your head even. The trees with all their different shapes and leaves of every shape as well. The colors in the sky that blend together to paint the perfect picture.
Even if you can’t do much by way of growing your own. If you are out in nature and can see what I see, smell the smells of the dirt, grass and trees, hear the sounds of God’s creatures, and feel the grass. You can appreciate what we do.
The ground that grows all our food, and medicine to be foraged. Medicine is just like food. You have to harvest it and make it shelf stable and prepare it in the form it is supposed to be in. It’s all work. Imagine the work that God put in to give us all this detail. Wow!
We can only appreciate it by using it instead of abusing it!
Grow your own or find your own in nature. But use it. Be thankful that we are allowed to use it at our disposal no questions asked! Thank you God for giving us the land to grow our food to feed ourselves and our animals, for growing plants that will heal us and keep us healthy. For the knowledge to make it last all year long and do it again next year. We are blessed.
